New research on recovered COVID-19 and SARS patients

In a study of patients recovered from COVID-19, the team of experts has found that all convalescents had SARS-CoV-2-specific memory T cells. The scientists have also found that after the 2003 pandemic, those who recovered from SARS still possess virus-specific T cells that provide cross-immunity to SARS-CoV-2. In addition, in half of uninfected volunteers, the scientists have identified T cells specific to SARS-CoV-2. These cells were the result of cross-immunity, which was developed as a result of exposure to other coronaviruses. In their study, the scientists have found that their discovery makes it clear why many people are able to more easily carry the coronavirus infection. They also plan to continue research on uninfected individuals on a large scale. This will help to find out ways to protect against infection or make it easier for patients.
