New generic antiretroviral drug from Amneal company

Amneal Pharmaceutical is a manufacturer from New Jersey that specializes exclusively in the development, manufacture and distribution of generics and special medicinal products. The company has a fairly wide product portfolio of approximately 250 products.

The FDA has authorized Amneal Pharmaceutical to make etravirine tablets 100 mg and 200 mg. This drug will be the first generic equivalent of Intelence indicated for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in patients aged 6 years who have previously received other antiretroviral drugs. Serious and life-threatening skin reactions have been reported due to etravirine. Therefore patients taking this drug should be monitored by a physician.
