Blood analysis in newborns will help assess the risk of allergy development in the children

Researches from Australia have developed blood analysis for newborns that helps assess the risk of allergy development in the child in future.

During this analysis the blood is checked for concentration of protein marker kinase C zeta. In children susceptible to allergic reactions its level is significantly decreased.

It took seven years for scientists of the University of South Australia and the University of Western Australia to develop this analysis. Immunologist Tony Ferrante thinks that this achievement opens new horizons in the struggle against allergy.

Now specialists try to find out if food additives with fish oil taken by the pregnant or just delivered women can decrease the risk of development of different types of allergy in the child.
